The eight year presidency of Barack Hussein Obama is mercifully coming to a close. However, in the few weeks he has left, Obama reportedly plans to inflict some of his worst agendas on us on his way out the door.
The Washington Times reported that we should prepare for executive orders, “midnight” regulations and, worst of all, pardons from Obama before he leaves office.
Analysts predict that Obama will add to his long list of executive orders, issue a series of rules, and throw in a controversial pardon or two as well.
“I do think a pardon for Huma and Weiner might happen,” said Michael McKenna, a Republican lobbyist, referring to Clinton aide Huma Abedin and her disgraced husband Anthony Weiner.
As a “lame duck” president, Obama will be free from any political concerns, as he will have no other elections to worry about. This will give him the freedom to lock in his policies and push his agendas without any fears of backlash. One major factor in what he does will be how confident he is that someone who shares his values is succeeding him.
“What we’ve seen in the past is when the outgoing president is replaced by somebody from the opposition party, then in the waning months of their presidency there’s a burst of regulatory and rule-making activity,” said William G. Howell, a political scientist at the University of Chicago.
Given Obama’s penchant for executive orders during his presidency, we can only imagine how many he plans to issue during his final days in office…
