If you didn’t know better, you might think the only “truly important” thing happening in the world today was an 11-year-old recording of one of the presidential candidates. Unfortunately, while most of our so-called media, led by its Democrat establishment, continues to make an old video the center of all focus, the world continues to devolve — along with the United States’ place in it and our very security.

We’re just coming off a banner week with Russia, which started last week when Washington suspended diplomatic contacts with Moscow and ended with the Obama administration accusing Russia of war crimes in Syria and hacking the United States to interfere with our elections. No biggie, nothing to talk about there. Just some of the fruits of former Secretary of State Clinton’s much-lauded “experience,” which include failed foreign policy attempts centered on giving a toy “reset” button to a former KGB guy. (Would appear SHE is the one who needs an “intelligence” surge.)

And now, the Obama administration’s latest BFF, Iran, appears to be finding new ways to spend its newfound billions, courtesy of President Obama, and SecStates Kerry and Clinton.

They’re firing at US.

As Fox News reports, Iranian-backed Houthi rebels fired two missiles at a U.S. Navy destroyer operating off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea on Sunday.

More from Fox News:

Iranian-backed Houthi rebels fired two missiles at a U.S. Navy destroyer operating off the coast of Yemen in the Red Sea on Sunday — though neither missile hit the ship, the Pentagon said in a statement.

Though the American warship wasn’t struck, the ship was definitely targeted, a U.S. defense official told Fox News. This dramatic escalation comes a week after the U.S. Navy sent warships to the area when a United Arab Emirates flagged auxiliary ship was destroyed off the coast of Yemen by the Houthis.

“We assess the missiles were launched from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen,” Pentagon spokesman Capt Jeff Davis said. “The United States remains committed to ensuring freedom of navigation everywhere in the world, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our ships and our servicemembers.”

It was not immediately clear how close the missiles came to the destroyer.

“In the first instance USS Mason employed onboard defensive measures, although it is unclear whether this led to the missile striking the water or whether it would have struck the water anyway,” a defense official told Fox News.

Officials said the American ship was conducting routine operations in international waters when the missiles were fired, but didn’t provide an exact location.

“Beyond that, the incident is under investigation, and we hope to have more details for you in the coming days,” the defense official said. “We take this very seriously. We will protect our people.”

The White House condemned the missile firings, a senior administration official told Fox News.

U.S. officials have long accused Iran of supplying missiles and other weapons to the Houthis.

I’m sure the White House’s “condemnation” of the missile firings has really put the Iranians on notice now! Especially coming right on the heels of the Obama administration’s further easing of Iranian sanctions that was quietly revealed on Friday — shortly before 6 p.m. Friday at the start of the Columbus Day holiday weekend in the United States.

(If anything, the Iranians are probably thinking they need to step up their game and do something like seize 10 of our Sailors — since they actually got a boatload (er, planeload) of cash after that!)

But of course, most of the nation — including our own Republican leaders — was too busy reacting with outrage to a 2005 video that, coincidentally (!), had just been released hours before.

It’s abundantly clear, to anyone who’s paying attention, that we cannot afford even one more year — much less four — of the Obama/Clinton foreign policy disaster. Which is why the Democrats are trying desperately to distract us elsewhere, hoping we just won’t notice.
